Canadian permanent residence without a job offer: still possible, still slow

What CRS scores look like in 2026 and how to lift yours by 80 points without moving.

Canadian permanent residence without a job offer: still possible, still slow

The Express Entry CRS cut-off in general draws is hovering around 525. A typical thirty-year-old engineer with a master's and IELTS 7 sits at about 460. A job offer adds 50 to 200 points; a provincial nomination adds 600.

But you do not need either to get over the line. A second TEF Canada at NCLC 7 adds about 50 points if you currently have none. A spouse with strong English adds another 40. Studying in Canada for a one-year graduate certificate can add over 90.
