When Marc Deschamps accepted a senior research position at UCL in 2016, the family had three months to relocate. The cats were the easy part. Schools were not.

Ten years on, both children are at the Lycée Charles de Gaulle, Marc has tenure, his wife Isabelle has built a French-language consultancy serving British SMEs, and the family holds British citizenship.
